Access for Disabled Americans
A Non-Profit organization established to assist people with disabilities in all fields of life so they may live and function as independent and effective individuals in today's society.
Neal W. Smither, President and Founder of Access for Disabled Americans is a quadriplegic due to a car accident in 1970. He formed the organization to address the needs of the over 55 million people with disabilities in the United States alone. Needs that include:
-
Coping with the impact and realities of becoming disabled
-
Training and skill building to manage the work and home environment
-
Gaining meaningful reintegration into becoming aware of the many wonderful possibilities that are available in fields of travel, education, careers, and independence inside and outside the home.
In addition to working directly with disabled individuals in surmounting the physical and emotional obstacles they must face, the organization advises businesses on how to meet the standards set by the 1994 Americans with Disabilities Act; beyond this, how to more effectively integrate and utilize the skills of disabled employees in the workplace.
Access for Disabled Americans is working to establish a program that will provide low-income and homeless disabled individuals with housing, transportation, jobs and education. We are in the process of seeking government and other special programs that will assist in reaching our goals. We want to help make their dreams a reality.
Access for Disabled Americans is here to help TODAY - WE DO CARE !
